Hearing and Vision Screenings Delivered

Many times the main obstacle faced when looking for vision and hearing screenings is time.  Our busy lives force us to overlook this necessary health precaution in hopes that one day we will have the time.  The hearing and vision of our children call for more importance than that, and one positive group of people look to cater to them as swiftly as possible.

In some districts hearing and vision test are delivered right to the schools.  As states are mandating the screenings for kindergarten through third graders, a "Vision Van" is the best way to normalize the testing procedures.  Students walk onto the 20-foot-long trailer for vision and hearing screenings, as well as other health exams. The trailer is divided into three small rooms, each with their own purpose.

It takes about 20 minutes to test a class, therefore the mobile vision screening van can remain at a school for more than one day. The 20-plus-year-old van is scheduled every other week at a different school and can hold about 12 students and five nurses at a time.  Mobile vision and hearing care is the way to keep our future healthy and successful!

Hearing and Vision Mind Control

Using the brain to manipulate other inanimate objects has be portrayed in thousands of productions and movies over the years.  The topic of having supernatural powers like heightened hearing and vision is also overly illustrated.  Modern technological advances have brought these seemingly fictional scenarios into reality.  With aiding the disabled in mind rather than donning powerful abilities to the able-bodied, researchers are making unprecedented leaps into the future of true mind control.

Work is well underway on auxiliary hearing and vision devices that may eventually let you communicate telepathically, give you mutant-like hearing and vision, and download data directly into your brain, a la “The Matrix.”  The more relevant advancements include using brain-computer interfaces to help amputees and the handicapped, treat diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, and provide release therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder patients.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) are usually seen in two different forms.  Noninvasive techniques utilize electrodes placed on the scalp to measure electrical brain activity.   Invasive procedures require implants of  electrodes directly into the brain.  No matter the installation, the devices interact with a computer to produce a wide variety of applications from hearing programs to video games.   Looks like our vision and hearing have a lot to look forward to!

Hearing and Vision Tests for Children

Detecting hearing and vision problems should be carried out as early as possible in a child's life.  This is when routine check-ups are the most important.  Not only is it good for the child's physical health, it also helps their mental understanding of the doctor's office.  The signs of hearing loss are very similar at young and old ages, therefore as a parent it is very important to pay attention to your child's reactions to sound and your own voice.

School hearing programs, given as part of the normal tests carried out by a health professional or school nurse, detect whether a child's hearing is within the normal range of volume  and pitch.

Aside from these visits, parents should monitor the growth of these senses.  Babies should jump or be startled at loud noises from birth, and children should look to  find out where a sound is coming from.   Any discrepancies to normalcy could be a sign of a hearing impairment that has always been there, one currently developing, or just a temporary hearing problem.

Mother’s Milk is Best for Baby’s Hearing and Vision

The best health care you could ever receive in your life is preventative health care at a young age.  A long life of hearing programs, prescriptions, maybe even long medical procedures and hearing aids could be the result of a lack of knowledge and discipline towards preventative care.

With all of the advertisements and media illustrating the benefits of formula, many moms believe that it is a suitable replacement for breast feeding.  Breast milk contains the perfect mix of sugars, fats, and nutrients to meet baby's crucial needs.   No man-made drink could ever replace the natural enzymes and good bacteria in breast milk.  Breast milk also has inherent anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, meaning that breast-fed babies have lower rates of many childhood and adult infections and allergies than formula-fed babies.  Breast milk is unique in that it changes over time relative to the diet of the mother and the needs of the baby.  Most importantly, benefits of breast feeding include better hearing and vision and higher intelligence quotients.

Vision and hearing is one of the most important and irreplaceable facets in the growth of a baby.  No need to study the signs of hearing loss or worry about the development of their immune system when properly breast feeding your child.  Understand that Mother Nature knows best, not a scientist.
